Welcome to the Yoga Site…
Here you can learn all about yoga. Though this word means many things to many people (as we shall see), here in the west we usually consider the practice of yoga to be a form of exercise, based around the postures described in the ancient Hindu tradition of Hatha yoga.
The practice of yoga dates back many centuries and is central, in its varying forms, to the contemplative religions of the east, all of which have their roots in ancient India.
Outside of India, the term ‘yoga’ is used to describe the practice of attaining physical and spiritual health. The postures used are designed to exercise the body, whilst the often complex movements required allow us to focus our minds and free our spirits.
Many people combine the practice of yoga with meditation, but many others use the postures simply as a way to exercise the body.
